Shawn, Staffing Supervisor
Aureus Radiology
Passions
My family – my wife Melody
and my two sons, Cole and Owen. I am also an avid golfer and a huge Iowa
Hawkeyes fan!
Why do you work in
staffing?
I really enjoy the challenge of fitting the right person
with the best possible job. Because we work to satisfy both the facility
and the candidate, we are really working with two customers. It can be
both difficult at times and satisfying – always something new. It
is very rewarding when the technologist enjoys the assignment and the
hospital is thrilled with the employee.
Why Aureus?
I knew a few Aureus Staffing Supervisors before I pursued
a career here. I heard many positive things about the work environment
and the team approach that defined the company. It wasn’t until
I actually started to work here that I discovered how committed this company
is to being the best healthcare staffing company out there. It's great
to work with a company who not only wants to be a leader in their industry,
but actually achieves that! It helps me be able to find the best positions
for the candidates I work with when I call a hospital or facility because
Aureus has positive name recognition!
Best part of the job:
Getting a chance to meet our employees in person. It's unfortunate
that there are some we will never have the opportunity to meet, though.
Just when you think you can picture someone from all the phone conversations,
they turn out to look completely different! It is also nice to be able
to thank an employee in person for the great job they did on the assignment.

(Above) Shawn is just your typical friendly
Midwestern guy. Unless you say anything against the Iowa Hawkeyes! (Below)
On the phone to find one of his techs a job in the area she is interested
in. (Bottom) Shawn's pride and joy, is wife and sons!

Most challenging part of
the job:
Trying to get everything done by the end of the day. It can seem
impossible some days! There is always something that can keep you at your
desk for another hour or more. I’ve learned a lot about prioritizing
over the last few years at Aureus.
Biggest surprise about travelers
How fast they can drive from one part of the country to another!
Just kidding. Actually, the thing that surprises me most is how easily
our employees adapt to new cities, new hospitals, new co-workers, new
shifts, and new equipment. As a traveler, they enter into a new living
and working environment often – for some, every three months. Just
when they get comfortable working in a facility and the people in their
department, it's time for them to move on to the next assignment. Most
of our people really thrive on this, though. They are really adventurers!
